West Piney Fire Safety/Parking

For fire safety reasons we are asked that when parking all vehicles in the parking are just outside the gate at girls camp that we back in. This will allow for a much safer exit in case of an emergency.
We will also ask that there be no vehicles or trailers (now that we have our bear-proof barns) parked in camp. After unloading please park your vehicle and trailer in the parking area just before you enter girls camp.

FYI - there is an outfitter that uses the hitching posts and the parking area just outside of our area. Please do not park in this area. There will be signs posted as well.

Ward Campfire Sharing

Ward Campfire Singing & Sharing was meant to be a fun time singing from the Camp Music Book and sharing from the heart. It is a great way to end the day. As leaders you can ask what the girls learned that day, you can also invite them make their own spiritual connections to those experiences. Encourage the girls to share openly with one another, and allow the YCL's in your ward to lead out during this time.
Campfire Singing and sharing time will end each night with a Spiritual Devotional on the theme, given by a YCL from your ward.

"When the Savior taught, He did more than just share information. He gave His disciples opportunities to ask questions and share their testimonies. His pattern for teaching and learning invites us to “teach one another the doctrine of the kingdom” so that “all may be edified of all, and that every man may have an equal privilege” (D&C 88:77, 122). As a teacher, you can encourage uplifting discussions enriched by learners’ experiences and testimonies. Even small children often have much to contribute. A robust discussion is not your primary goal as a teacher, but it can support that goal—to help learners increase their faith in Jesus Christ and become more like Him."
(Teaching in the Savior’s Way, 2015)

Music

Please let us know your favorite fun & spiritual camp songs that you would like to have put in our Camp Music Book.

Golden Hour

This time was set apart to allow the Ward Young Woman Presidency to reinforce the purpose of camp.

Teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ

All camp leaders are teachers by example and testimony. Camp should be rich with both spiritual and temporal learning. As you plan what to teach at camp, pray and ponder about each young woman. Provide each young woman with opportunities to feel the Spirit. Help her apply the doctrines of the gospel to daily experiences. Teach her skills that will prepare her for her future and protect her and her family in an emergency. Whatever principles you choose to teach, keep in mind that everything you do at camp should help each young woman accomplish the following outcomes (see also Handbook 2, 10.1.1):
  • Strengthen her faith in and testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
  • Understand her identity as a daughter of God.
  • Live a worthy life as she obeys the commandments and lives gospel standards.
  • Receive, recognize, and rely on the promptings of the Holy Ghost.
  • Prepare for her divine roles as a leader, wife, and mother.
  • Understand and keep the covenants she has made.
  • Develop friendships and have fun.

**With this direction in mind.... Please plan on having Ward Family Prayer and Scripture Study daily. Whether this is done in the morning or evening is up to the individual wards. This will be in addition to their 15 minute personal scripture study.
